The brief: smallholding solar built for complete independence
A smallholding asks more of its power than a suburban home. For example, borehole and pressure pumps, outbuildings, gates and security are often spread across a large stand, and all of it stops when the supply does.
That is why Oom Peet’s brief was clear: complete independence. In other words, the property had to run on its own power, not just ride out the odd outage.
How the project ran
Like every PFB project, it followed four steps, with one team responsible from the first visit to the final handover.
- Free site assessment. First, we visit the property and check the roof, the DB board, the usage and where the big loads sit, such as pumps and outbuildings.
- Written design and fixed price. Next, we size the system to the brief, here complete independence, and confirm the price in writing before any work starts.
- Installation on site. Then, on Oom Peet’s smallholding, one crew completed the installation in two days. Every PFB handover includes an electrical Certificate of Compliance and a walkthrough of the system.
- Monitoring and support. Finally, the client sees production and battery status on their phone, and a PFB technician is a short drive away in Moreleta Park.
